The word productivity has an intrinsic meaning. Divide it in two parts: Produce + Activity. This division gives the word a special meaning for all of us: an activity where you want to produce something. So, to be productive you just need to produce something.
To have a productive and meaningful life a person needs to have a goal to reach. That is a secret (well, not so much secret
). Productivity does not necesarily mean sleeping very little and doing lots of stuff during the day.
The first step you may take is deciding what your goals in life are. Then you need to clarify how you are going to reach your goals and how long it will take. Decide what things are really important for you. That means, what actions or situations will move you towards your goal.
List your goals in a piece of paper. Let’s say, for example, that you want to become an athlete. A successful one, by the way. You know that you will have to train very hard, excersise to keep fit, eat healthy food, wake up early enough to practice and have enough sleep time during the nights. Wasting time is not in an athlete’s to do list. TV time should be cut down as well as party time with friends. Now you have to divide your time and devote each one of the activities you should do, the appropriate amount of time to develop them.
Most succesful basketball, soccer or football players don’t go to bed late at nights because they have to get up very early to practice. At around 4 or 5 am. So an athelete should consider as time wasters each and every activitythat keeps them late at night. You can become the most productive person on earth. I am sure you can! Decide your goals and missions, decide how you are going to accomplish them, how much time and energy to devote to them. Focus on the things that puts you closer to your dream goals. Your activities will become productive, so you will become a productive person that can influence others for good.
Hint: You will need to learn how to develop effective time management skills
